I'm marking some homework at the moment and have come across a cute little story by my year 4 kid that I just couldn't resist sharing. Here it is, unaltered, complete with minor mistakes and missing words, for your enjoyment:
LITTLE DULL MUSHROOM
Once upon a time there lied six ordinary mushrooms. They all had red beautiful spots except on mushroom which was brown and had no spots at all.
All the other mushrooms laughed at the mushroom. The mushroom was very angry and embarrassed he shouted out "Why is everyone looking at me?" That day the other mushrooms were scared of him but the next day they started to show off again.
In the sky, a blue fairy saw what was happening and used her magic to make it rain. It flooded the streets and backyards. The mushrooms got swept away by the flood except the little dull one. He tried to save the others but the flood was too strong.
When the storm was over there was a gust of wind and it swept away the lost little one. He floated pass people's houses and save mushrooms that landed in their backyards (some were even on the roof!)
Finally when he had saved all of them the blue fairy made another gust of wind and the mushrooms landed safely back in the grass.
From that day the mushrooms never said anything rude about the little musroom and were glad he had saved them.

it's the best story yet (in terms of grammar and spelling and stuff)
i get a sense of deja vu when i read it though.. can u see any common links with other fairy tale stories? i can't seem to pinpoint an exact one though..
